There's minimal NPC interaction, and the motives behind the asteroid attack are vague at best. They have some laughs.ДЄlso inducing sighs and shrugs is the lack of any real narrative meat. Of all the things I hoped would be changed for the downloadable content, the off-putting map repetition was top of the list. That disappointment deepens when you realise that the three outposts controlling the thrusters all use the same old base map you'll have grown sick of during the rest of the game. Such brevity would be fine if it were crammed with unmissable storytelling and innovative action, but what's most disappointing is that not only does this new mini-story fail to deliver much in the way of narrative excitement during that time, but that most of the gameplay revolves around sluggish Mako tank combat, hopping and blasting the stupid amount of gun turrets surrounding the three thrusters being used to propel the asteroid. We tend to measure the worth of our RPGs in terms of hours spent scouring them for every last experience point, so eyebrows were certainly raised at the fact that Bring Down The Sky lasts - at best - an hour and a half. It's mildly annoying for those who have finished game to have to play through Eden Prime and the Citadel again to access what you've paid for, but it's hard to complain - you can see how this is the only way such add-ons can work.

Only available during the mid-section of the game, when you have the helm of the Normandy and can fly to the Asgard system, Commander Shepard and his crew have just four hours to prevent disaster and find out who is behind this Michael Bay-inspired terrorist attack. The return of the exiled Batarian race, and a plot to crash a giant asteroid into Terra Nova, delivers just that excuse. While it could still benefit from some serious tightening in the technical department, clearly there was enough scope and character to the galaxy that fans were itching for an excuse to dive back in. I give this expansion the thumbs up and can only hope that the following expansions will offer a fresher, new content as well as a solid storyline to follow.There was justifiable excitement surrounding the arrival of BioWare's first salvo of additional content for the flawed-but-worthy Mass Effect. So if youвЂ™re looking for vast and expansive new content, you wonвЂ™t find so much of that here but you will find a storyline thatвЂ™s well worth investigating, especially if youвЂ™re a fan of the original game. The story writers behind Mass Effect are definitely one of the best things about this game and therefore I expect that the new downloadable content (even if it looks like itвЂ™s going to be drip fed to the fans) will add a lot more value to the game as each portion of the content is released. Of course, whilst there may not be a whole lot of new material in the game to enjoy, the storyline (which seems simplistic on the surface) is actually quite engaging and I am sure fans of Mass Effect will really enjoy this aspect of the expansion. Their only goal is to kill millions of people because theyвЂ™re like that. The story behind Bring Down the Sky revolves around a hijacked asteroid aimed at an unsuspecting planet by a newly introduced group of bad guys, the Batarians. The expansion itself (which is worth 400 MS points) doesnвЂ™t add a lot of new content to the game and is more like an expanded side mission. So, if youвЂ™re a fan of Mass Effect, youвЂ™ll be happy to know that there will be more content coming but youвЂ™ll eventually have to shell out a few more Microsoft points yet to see it all.

This is primarily because the DLC or вЂdownloadable contentвЂ™ for Mass Effect is going to be split into several different portions with вЂBring Down the SkyвЂ™ as the first of these. Mass Effect: Bring Down the Sky in a nutshell is a smaller expansion than you would expect.
